Autism Awareness Project

Last updated: 05/09/2024

Autism is a genetic condition affecting the brain’s functioning, affecting individuals throughout their life. It is not a medical condition with treatments or a “cure,” but some individuals require support.

NKS is utilising appropriate, culturally sensitive means of engagement to support autistic adults and their families and address challenges resulting from a lack of awareness and understanding of autism. By raising community awareness and knowledge about autism, we hope to combat the stigma associated within South Asian communities, ensure that services are culturally appropriate for affected individuals, and encourage families and communities to come together to share personal stories of their lived experiences.

If you would like NKS to support you or anyone you know who needs support, please get in touch with us to self-refer or refer a person who needs help. We look forward to hearing from you.
