Safe Families

This is a Claimed service
Delivered by: Safe Families This is a Claimed organisation
Last updated: 11/12/2023

Safe Families brings hope and belonging to overwhelmed families by offering support through our volunteer-led service. All volunteers go through a robust recruitment procedure and are offered comprehensive training before being approved to support families. There are 3 main ways that volunteers can support families:

  1. Family Friend - a volunteer who provides regular emotional and practical support to a member of the family through befriending
  2. Host Home - a volunteer who will provide day or overnight stays to one or more members of the family to provide some breathing space for an overwhelmed parent/carer or in an emergency situation, such as a parent/carer needing to stay overnight in hospital who has no trusted adult to care for their children
  3. As an addition to either a Family Friend or Host Home, we provide Resource Friends - these volunteers provide practical skills such as gardening or decorating or providing items that a family may need such as baby equipment or clothing
