The aims of a Focused group programme

• To bring together a group of parents or carers who are

experiencing similar issues

• To build confidence in both adult and child

• To enable peer support

• To promote positive adult/child relationships through

communication and interaction

• To offer support to parents and carers as they nurture their

children’s language development, early learning and sense

of self esteem

• To discuss aspects of play or development and how adults

can support their children.

• To give ideas for age appropriate and helpful play activities

• To keep a record of development through a portfolio diary

• To introduce and support families into community groups or

services
