Perinatal & Infant Mental Health
This is a Claimed service
Our Perinatal Support Service (PSS) provides intensive community-based support for families throughout the woman’s pregnancy from second trimester and during the first year of the child’s life (or longer if required) and for parents with infants under one. PSS is embedded in our core work of weekly home visiting support and is provided by specially trained volunteers.
This support is recognised to :
improve mental wellbeing
provides practical parenting support
improve infant outcomes
We continue to enhance and develop this specialist area of support through our presence in a number of community services, our connections with midwives & health visitors and our place on the Board of Maternal Mental Health Scotland.
