Ponies Help Children

This is a Claimed service
Last updated: 19/08/2024

We use Equine Assisted Therapy to improve mental health. We enable people to achieve and reach their full potential.

On receiving a referral for a young person we match the pony to meet their needs. Due to the history of the pony and the experiences they have gone through, very often they are similar to our young people’s experiences and we match them accordingly. We know which pony and client are going to form a partnership.

The young person attends each week for up to an hour for 7 weeks. They will spend the first few weeks learning all about the rescued pony and aspects of the care required to groom ‘their’ pony.

These young people work with the rescue ponies and improve their own quality of life. This can be achieved by increased self belief, managing anger better, improvement in family collaboration, reduction in negative thoughts, an increase in co-operation with schools.

We enable young people to reach their full potential with the use of animal-human interaction.
